1970 Corvette Street Machine

Image
Street Freak Special ! This 1970 Corvette has such an outrageous custom paint job that it will blind you. The car is a time capsule bringing you back to 1975 when disco was popular, it also was a time when horsepower wasn't enough to win at shows so the people mixed street machine power with lowrider good looks. The Vette features a full custom interior, supercharged small block engine and a 4-speed manual transmission. The interior is filled with a roll bar, metallic vinyl interior accents and wood trim, finishing off the 70's vibe it rolls on classic wire wheels.     The engine is a small-block Chevy 400, with a Dyers 6V-71supercharger. It has a pump gas friendly 8.5:1 CR., The supercharger is feed by two boost-referenced Holley 650 CFM  carbs. Ignition is handled by a MSD products.  The small-block is backed up by a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission. The fumes exit in style with chrome 4-into one side pipes that make this 71' Corvette rumble. Power

Some Funny Car History

Image
There are some things about Pre 1985 Funny Cars that I love , from the custom paint jobs to the full track burnouts . From 1960's to the early 1980's, Coast to Coast every Drag Strip on any given weekend had a huge match race style event . Some had a 32 car field , and as Match Racing hit it's peak tracks competed  against each other by bringing in even more cars,  some booked 64 or more just to boast that they had a bigger & better event .   The most funny Cars that I witnessed at one single event was when Englishtown had an event sponsored by K-Mart in the early 80's , they featured 32 Funny Cars and a couple of wheel standers , The Paddy Wagon , The little Red Wagon  , and some VW pick up . The show lasted from 12 in the afternoon until after 9 PM .Those who know Raceway Park know that the lighting  was just over flashlight bright  . But at night you could see header flames 4 feet in the air the full 1320 feet . There were a lot of heavy hitters that followed t

Women of Drag Racing , Past & Present

Image
Drag Racing is a great sport because Men and Women can compete as equals . Both lanes are the same & they are both 1320 feet long . When the lights come down it is just human and machine , not Man or Woman in the other lane .  In my opinion , as a Drag Racing Fan I think Women have proven themselves in the sport and they need to be respected and honored . That's why I'm asking Women to participate in my page.  And I decided to do a history flashback on some great women in Drag Racing.   Without them there would be no Women  racing today.   Della Woods   is a professional AA/FC driver in the NHRA.  She was the first female driver in the five-second zone in the Funny Car class, and the first female driver to go to the semifinals at an NHRA national event. She held that record for almost 22 years. Della Woods was inducted into the Michigan Motor Sports Hall of Fame in 1999, and the East Coast Drag Times Hall of Fame in 2015. In 2016, she was inducted into the Mopar Hall

Joe with Big Al Liebmann , car owner's,Rocky Pirrone & crew at Raceway Park . Joe Morrison from Warren, New Jersey wears many hats,he is a successful businessman running his own landscaping company full time. He also plays guitar in a rock band and he also drives a string of Nostalgia Drag Racing Cars . As of 2020 he is the NHRA's newest Top Fuel driver for Team Leverich. In the beginning of January we had a great conversation where we discussed how Joe got started in Drag Racing , who his hero's were growing up,who helped him along the way and of course the great cars he got to drive on the way up to Top Fuel status . Joe said he was going to the Drag Races since before he was born. Really! His mom was working in the timing tower at Island Dragway while she was pregnant with him,and his Dad worked the starting line when he wasn’t racing in Jr. Stock, Stock Eliminator or Super Stock. He kept going to the track as a family even after his dad had to stop racing

Eric Morrison's Dodge Avenger F/C

From St. Petersburg , Florida Eric Morrison and his Blown Alcohol Dodge Avenger F/C When Eric was bracket racing a he noticed few Nostalgia Funny Cars started  showing up at Bradenton , From that point on he was hooked. He said he had to own a Funny Car. And as soon as possible he made plans to sell his truck and acquire a Funny Car body chassis . When Eric purchased his new chassis it came with a 1933 Bantam body.   He ran it like that for a while and later on installed a 1986 Mustang Body that he purchased from Larry Reep in Austin ,TX. He ran the car in the "Dixie Classic Funny Car Series" in a naturally aspirated configuration for a year until he built a blown & injected Chevy on alcohol. He also employed a Powerglide for the shifting duties. Eric stated he ran with that group at tracks throughout the South East. At that time other car owners took notice of  Eric's driving abilities ,  Which led him to drive for another team briefly. He was able to get thei
