Scott Robinson's "Bionic Wasp" 68' Camaro

Image
Scott Robinson is from southern California and has been into cars his whole life, his earliest memories recount his time spent with his father and his friends. Scott's father raced all types of vehicles, drag boats, sand rails, and cars. These experiences made a major impression on Scott and he couldn't wait to be old enough to drive. When he was old enough, he got heavy into off-road motorcycles then when he got his driver's license all bets were off.  Scott forgot about racing motorcycles and went all in and started racing cars. The first car he raced wasn't car at all, it was a 1975 Chevy van. But this wasn't  any old worn out work van. This van belonged to Scott's father, it featured  a destroked 400 cube small-block built by Scott's Dad, it's backed up with a TH-400 automatic transmission and a narrowed 12-bolt rear end. Scott said it was fun ride for his first car, and when he graduated high-school his father gave it to him.   The father and son

Travis Walters .... Living Life in the Fast Lane !

Travis Walters is what you can call a triple threat when it comes to motorsports, he can drive, fabricate and tune. In his short professional carer he has worked for some big powerhouse teams. He is not a novice by any means, as he has been around racing his whole life.  Travis grew up in Ocean City, Maryland and his father was into racing so when Travis was six years old he started racing Go-Karts, shortly after he was in the winners circle. He had the drive to something bigger. When Travis was just 10 years old he was a crew member & turned wrenches on a Super Late-model full body dirt track car, he did that until he was 18.                                                       Young Travis checking out the progress on his fathers latest build.               Travis looking over the UNOH  UMP Late Model race car before going to Volusia for the Dirt Car Nationals. *An interview with Ida Zetterström *

Ida is cool and confident behind the wheel of her Top Fuel Dragster, in her first FIA event of 2022 she set a new European record of 3.782 seconds making her the first team to make a 3.7 second pass in Europe.     Ida Zterström is from Aland Islands, Finland and even though she is under 30 years old she already has had an amazing career. This is her twentieth year competing in a Drag Racing category, as she was licensed to race junior dragsters at just eight years old.   When Ida was only three weeks old she would travel with her family to different race tracks. She grew up in her fathers workshop and at the racetrack. Her father raced in Pro-Stock and Pro-Modified and also worked with other race teams.  He was her biggest influence and encouraged her to race. When Ida was ready, he built her first JR Dragster.   I recently had the chance to have a Q&A session with her, to learn more about her racing background and to share it with our readers.   ST    Can you tell me wh

Tommy Ivo's *Honest Charlie's Dragster*

Formerly part of the private collection of world champion Bruce Larson , it was purchased  in 2001 and restored it in 2007. This Top Fuel Dragster was raced by TV Tommy Ivo, It debuted at the '74 NHRA Winter Nationals  and sponsored by Honest Charley's Speed Shop. Ivo's Digger was one of the first Top Fuel cars to go 250 MPH in the 1/4 mile , It features the original chassis built by Larry Sikora in fall of 1973 . The Stream-liner body was designed by the legendary Nye Frank .   In an attempt to create better aerodynamics the front wheels were enclosed with what looked like rudders from an airplane . They were referred too as wheel pants.  The body work also extended below the lower frame rails and wrapped around the bottom giving it the look of a Monocoque Indy car . Ivo was quoted as a saying - "It was a brand-spankin' new car on my fourth run in the 1974 Winternationals. The engine exploded so fiercely that it turned into a fireball and punched a hole in
