Pro-Street 91' Nissan 240 SX

Image
A street racers dream... Wow! This Nissan has the best of both worlds, a high powered American V8 under the hood and a body with unique Japanese styling. This 1991 Nissan 240 SX S13 Coupe started out as a stock street car then it was turned into a super street-sleeper.   The builder of this 240 SX didn't cut any corners, the work is top notch and only the best parts were used. Under the hood resides a Chevrolet 327 C.I. small-block that features a Weiand intake manifold and a big Holley Carb.      The top end includes Vortec aluminum heads with 1.7 roller rockers, their covered with polished valve covers for some contrast against all that white paint. An MSD ignition system gets the sparks flying and big custom big tube headers dump into a full 2.5 inch exhaust system.   Backing up the hot small-block is a turbo 350 transmission with a shift-kit and 2500 RPM stall torque converter. The chassis was completely worked over with a tubbed out 9-i...

Street- Freaks !

Image
     * Street Freaks   * What is a Street Freak?  It's a street driven Drag Strip dropout, de-tuned for Sorta-Legal   on-road Cruising. Take a fugitive funny car with a dynamite engine and jacked up suspension, add mufflers (rarely), lights and the biggest street tires (most only had slicks) and drive it on the street ! I grew up in North Jersey in the early 80's , reading every car magazine I could get my hands on . Yes, you could still hold something in your hands and read it !  I had a subscription to Hot Rod at 9 years old and renewed for at least 10 years , until it got over run with ads . I would also purchase  Car Craft , & now defunct Popular Hot Rodding & Cars Illustrated at the news stand / magazine store . This was my only education about Hot Rods or any cars for that matter, as I was the only one in my family who was interested in cars. And as luck would have it , my house was the only one on my street with out a driveway o...

Al Levine's Killer 1963 Plymouth Savoy

Image
If Darth Vader Had a Hot Rod this would be it !     Al Levine is from Great Neck, New York, but you can say his sinister looking 1963 Plymouth Savoy could be from the Death Star . This is a car that any movie villain would want . The car is black on black with minimal bright work which blends in quite nicely on the streets of New York .   What else does that villain want you ask ? How about so much power you can't keep it under the hood .   The power in question comes from a BDS Stage 3 10/71 Supercharged 540 cube Hemi .     Even Darth is impressed with the mighty Hemi !   The engine is a Mopar Mega block with forged 4.5 stroke crank swinging  Diamond pistons with a 4.380...
