Like most gear heads in his age group, Butch Hill notes that while growing up, he took a particular liking to hot rods as a result of the influence from his father, Don. He was also known as the Hill-Boys Race Team in the dirt/asphalt racing circuit. Although his involvement with hot rods came from his father. His mother, Marilyn was one of his biggest fans and supporters. Butch made frequent trips to the drag strips to check out what was running. The “look and power” of those cars was something that intrigued him. Needless to say, he was always on the hunt for cool hot rods. Al Levine's Killer 1963 Plymouth Savoy

If Darth Vader Had a Hot Rod this would be it ! Al Levine is from Great Neck, New York,but you can say his sinister looking 1963 Plymouth Savoy could be from the Death Star . This is a car that any movie villain would want . The car is black on black with minimal bright work which blends in quite nicely on the streets of New York . What else does that villain want you ask ? How about so much power you can't keep it under the hood . The power in question comes from a BDS Stage 3 10/71 Supercharged 540 cube Hemi . Photo credit Jason Reiss/PDRA Brad McBride is the builder and driver of this super cool and fast Type 3 Volkswagen. Brad has been around racing his whole life. His father owned land that's now the pit area beside Piedmont Dragway in North Carolina. His father raced a roadster and later raced a top alcohol funny car called the Starr Rider well into the 1990's. So you could say it was in Brad's DNA that he was destined to be a drag racer. We asked Brad how he started racing and what his earliest memories were. He stated the first thing he raced was 20" Schwinn 5-speed bike when he was 12 or 13 years old. Steve McNew's 1975 Mustang. Outcast

In April of 1977, Hot Rod Magazine showcased a Mustang II they named ‘Sudden Death’. Ten years later in 1988 another Mustang II was busy earning a reputation on the streets of Northern Kentucky. That Mustang earned the name ‘Outcast’ . When Steve McNew was just 17 years old and working at a fast-food joint in Northern Kentucky, he purchased his first car, a 1975 Mustang II. It was a ratty, rusty, high-mileage heap that he paid $500 for at a small cash lot. The Mustang II wasn’t popular then and still not popular now, but Steve knew it was just right to build a fast street racer. He would also hang out with his friends who met regularly to race their Nova’s, Chevelle’s ,Mustang’s and other muscle cars of the day. The Mustang II is almost half the weight of those monsters and with the right combo, it would hurt a lot of feelings. Each week when Steve drove up, his friends would always joke and say, “Here comes Steve in his little outcast of a Mustang”, and the name ‘Outcast’...

Greg Tinney's Oldsmobile Cutlass

Greg Tinney has been Drag Racing for over 40 years , and along with his current racing partner of 25 years they have won 8 championships out of the same shop. Greg Tinney from Wolf Racing has raced Oldsmobile's for 40 years. He started out racing his 1971 Olds Cutlass street car back in high school. His current race car is also a 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass S 442 Clone. Greg said he installed 1972 taillights just because he likes the look of those better. The car was wrecked when he got it and planned on building it into a race car from the start so he stripped all of it down and replaced any damaged sheet metal , then He painted the car 1993 Cadillac Dark Plum . Greg installed a 10 point roll cage with a rear x brace at L.J. Race cars in Davie,FL. He wanted to restore the car as well and not just cut it up.The car has all of the glass and it is all steel except for the Glasstek fiberglass hood and 5" cowl hood scoop that He made.
