A Funny Car for the street ? In the 1960's funny cars were making their debut at the drag strips across America, and by the 70's they were the most popular class in Drag Racing. They had flashy paint jobs and covered the 1/4-mile in less then seven seconds! Craig Cochran had the idea and the skills needed to adapt a funny car for street driving. It had to have a flashy paint job, killer bodywork and plenty of horsepower. Don't let this happen to you , make sure the person selling/building your parts has experience ! Published on December 3, 2021 By, Mike Salemme I want to share some thoughts about the job market in the automotive industry today. This is a story of what happened to me this week . It concerns me very much not only from a Technicians view but also from a human safety view as well . This wild 1973 Mustang Mach 1 was given the full Pro-Street treatment back in the early 1990's, and was built by the Rod Shop in Erie, P.A. The current owner is from Nanuet,New York and owns some other significant Pro-Street cars as well. The hood now opens in reverse like a Corvette . And poking through the hood is a custom made air box fed by two ram tubes fitted with high-flow air filters. The owner stated that he is going to give the hood the factory black out treatment to match the other Mach 1 graphics. Under the hood we find the huge by large big-block Ford that has been stroked to almost 600 cubic inches . The transmission is a H.D. Ford C6 automatic with a high stall converter. You can see the detail work that went into this build , the fire wall has been smoothed and set back and the engine has been set back at least four inches as well . The cowl has been removed and a custom windshield was flush fitted to the opening. A single wiper was added to keep...
