I came across this, radical for its time 1972 Ford Maverick, and I wanted to share it with my readers. When Roger Tausch's blown 1972 Ford Maverick rumbled through the Indiana State Fairgrounds over 35 years ago during the Street Machine Nationals, it caused tons of excitement among fellow Street Machine enthusiasts ! You see most blower cars at the time were Chevy's and very few were Ford's or even Ford powered. Roger's car appeared in the November 1980 issue of Car Craft, It was a fantastic debut for Roger and his Supercharged 302 powered Maverick....

This Awesome Photo was done by Tristin Godsey, the owner of Trystram Portrait Artistry from Roseburg, Oregon If this 1965 Mustang could talk , it would tell you how it traveled across our great country from coast to coast and seen places many of us have never been . This is a the story of Duncan Southall and his journey with his 1965 Mustang (in his words), a story that is still being written. My story with my Mustang is a unique tale. This was the first car I ever bought, and it’s been mine since High School. Although my high school experience ended up with me dropping out and joining the Marines. It was important to mention how my experience with my Mustang guided my life. I received a myriad of tickets as a 16-year-old with a passion for street racing. I had racked up reckless and careless driving tickets, exhibition of speed and those open tickets were prohibitive for my entrance in the Marines at 17. Luckily, my father took me to court hearing wher...

The room in this speed-shop is Heaven for me , because these are my favorite wheels of all time . Ansen or E-T Slots look great on anything . Gasser's, Muscle Cars , Drag Cars and don't forget Custom-Van's. The Sprint style slot wheel came in sizes from 3 inches wide to 14 inches wide . and you could get them in 13 to 15 inch diameters with the most rare being 16in. , those were mostly for Dragsters . The street car wheels were made with cast aluminum , while the race versions were made in magnesium . They were made with bolt on center caps or push in caps . This example is a15x14 Ansen Sprint slot wheel, with a 4- inch back space. Slot wheels give any street machine that racing look and just add to the cool factor ! It is very rare to find a set of 15x12 or 15x14's for sale , but about once a year I seem t...

Orange Sunshine is a 1973 Plymouth Duster owned and built by Doug Markel , from Gibsonburg, Ohio. Doug said he has owned the car for the last 9 years. He purchased the Duster from his good friend from Hamilton Ohio who also races. When he found out he was looking for a car he contacted Doug and said he didn't need two race cars so he bought the Duster as a rolling chassis . Doug added the power plant, transmission, gears and electronics along with some neglected TLC. He said it's been a lot of fun, racing and making many friends along the way, at the race track. Some of specifications include a Ladder Bar rear suspension with a 9" rear and 4:30 gears. Big 14x32- r15 Goodyear Slicks handle all the power that big Mopar engine throws down. The front end consists of a Tubular K- Member fitted with stock-style torsion bars. For the power plant we have a Big-Block Wedge Stroked to 500 Cu In. For this combination Doug chose to stroke a 4...

* Street Freaks * What is a Street Freak? It's a street driven Drag Strip dropout, de-tuned for Sorta-Legal on-road Cruising. Take a fugitive funny car with a dynamite engine and jacked up suspension, add mufflers (rarely), lights and the biggest street tires (most only had slicks) and drive it on the street ! I grew up in North Jersey in the early 80's , reading every car magazine I could get my hands on . Yes, you could still hold something in your hands and read it ! I had a subscription to Hot Rod at 9 years old and renewed for at least 10 years , until it got over run with ads . I would also purchase Car Craft , & now defunct Popular Hot Rodding & Cars Illustrated at the news stand / magazine store . This was my only education about Hot Rods or any cars for that matter, as I was the only one in my family who was interested in cars. And as luck would have it , my house was the only one on my street with out a driveway o...
