1970 Corvette Street Machine

Image
Street Freak Special ! This 1970 Corvette has such an outrageous custom paint job that it will blind you. The car is a time capsule bringing you back to 1975 when disco was popular, it also was a time when horsepower wasn't enough to win at shows so the people mixed street machine power with lowrider good looks. The Vette features a full custom interior, supercharged small block engine and a 4-speed manual transmission. The interior is filled with a roll bar, metallic vinyl interior accents and wood trim, finishing off the 70's vibe it rolls on classic wire wheels.     The engine is a small-block Chevy 400, with a Dyers 6V-71supercharger. It has a pump gas friendly 8.5:1 CR., The supercharger is feed by two boost-referenced Holley 650 CFM  carbs. Ignition is handled by a MSD products.  The small-block is backed up by a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission. The fumes exit in style with chrome 4-into one side pipes that make this 71' Corvette rumble. Power

1967 Camaro Pro-Street

Image
This 1967 Camaro is nicknamed "Sinister", because it has a bad attitude according to the owner. It's powered by a Dart Big M block stroked to 565 CI . A Holley 1050 CFM Dominator feeds this beastly big block, which sits on-top of a  Dart single plane intake manifold.  A Barry Grant BG- 400 fuel pump supplies Sunoco 110 octane race fuel from the rear mounted 10 gallon cell .  A huge four-core Griffin radiator with three electric fans cools that large big block , for fast cool downs between runs.       The Camaro  has a full ATI drive line , including a TH- 400 transmission with a  4000 RPM stall converter with a trans- brake.  Shifting is courtesy of a B&M Pro- ratchet shifter.  There are massive Wilwood disk brakes on the front & rear and  if that is not enough stopping power , the Camaro is equipped with a Simpson parachute .   It rolls on a set of  Weld  15x5 aluminum wheels with 26X6 Mickey Thompson SPORTSMAN S/R TIRES on the front , while t

Funny Cars & More from Island Dragway

Image
These are some of the sights and sounds from Island Dragway located in Great Meadows ,New Jersey     It was a hot afternoon at the 61st Funny Car Throwdown presented by The North East Timing Organization (NETO), it was well over 90 degrees , and the cars were just as hot ! There were over 16 vintage Nitro & Alcohol  Funny Cars and plenty of vintage Drag Cars to enjoy between rounds . There was everything  from classic 1950's front engine Dragsters to Altered wheel base cars , and 8.90-9.90 Door Cars . Do to the intense sun shining that day filming the racing action was  difficult but we did capture some great pit action.  We shot some great photos and captured the true essence of grass roots racing . Island Dragway is one of two quarter mile tracks still operating in New Jersey , it's about 50 miles west from the George Washington bridge .  The Dazed & Confused 69 Camaro Funny Car is owned by Neil  Murley from Weymouth,Mass.
