The Foulger Ford 1969 Mustang Super Stock

This 1969 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet gained notoriety on the West Coast drag-racing circuit under sponsorship from Chuck Foulger, the former Ford Racing director from Monrovia, California. It was driven by Lucy Below and known as 'Lucy's Larceny'.

At Fremont Dragway it set the SS/HA class record, it ran mid 11s at 126.45 mph. The car was then retired after racing only three short years in Division 7. Then it was sold and went through a few owners. It was featured in all the popular drag racing magazines during the 1970s.

The car was well known at the time because of its unique paint scheme, refrigerator white on the passenger side with a bright blue racing stripe outlining the fender, door and quarter panel. On the driver side the complete opposite with bright blue paint and a bright white stripe down the flanks.

The car’s distinctive paint scheme was Foulger’s idea, he reasoned that media coverage would give the impression there were two Foulger Ford-sponsored Mustangs rather than just one.

Restored with input from Lucy and Bob Below to its original racing configuration. The original build sheet still exists and period racing photos were used to aid the restoration.

Under the Mustang's hood is the Ram Air 428 Cobra Jet engine featuring Doug Thorley’s headers & an MSD ignition system. It's backed-up with ford's heavy-duty C6 Automatic transmission. It features a high stall converter and a manual valve-body for high RPM shifts. A competition suspension package with stiffer front coil springs give it better weight transfer. Front disc brakes & rear drums get it stopped on the big end.

Lakewood traction bars with drag shocks get the huge slicks planted for hard launches. Cragar S/S wheels mounted on all four corners give it some attitude.

The column mounted Sun Tach. keeps track of the revs!

Mounted to the reworked factory shifter is the Hurst roll control switch that engages the line lock, giving it superior burnouts.

The interior features factory bucket seats and a simple 4-point roll bar.The radio was deleted as well as the heat and A/C system.
