The Billet 5 Valve W8 HEMI Engine
Designed by Rene Gagner
Rene Gagner is from Canada and said that he has been a true drag racer his whole life, this is what he has been working on in his spare time.
It's a CNC billet 1,002 CID W8 fuel motor, designed with a DOHC 5-valve HEMI configuration. It features a 10.250'' deck, a big bore & short stroke. The heads have a potential to flow over 1000 CFM.
Rene stated that the real obstacle is to make it as compact as he can, so it can fit in most drag car chassis. For power, he has already made 3.05 HP per-cubic-inch on the dyno, with a much smaller engine spinning at 12000+rpm.
The new CNC Billet 5-valve W8 HEMI race engine design is aimed at the 960 cubic-inch displacement rule limit, but it's 1000 C.I.D capable. Intended for the latest Outlaw Street and Pro-Mod drag racing leagues.
By using an extra large bore and short deck, along with new modern materials hi-horsepower is in easy reach. The engine has been designed to have an incredible valve train stability up to 11000 rpm.
Here's another angle of an earlier phase, the engine is under 24-inches tall and it's only 30-inches wide complete. So far the overall
length is a touch over 30-inches. The heads are a twin
plug design to promote combustion efficiency.
This is just the beginning of this story, Rene has some parts machined and when it is completed we will update the progress of this state of the art engine.

John Uzbasic's 1937 Chevy Coupe
John Uzbasic was raised in Northern Wisconsin , then in 1979 he moved to Hawaii, where he worked multiple jobs just to afford to live there. Even back in 1979 it was expensive. So basically all he did was work with really no outside life. John said that some years passed when he met two individuals that ended up to be good friends, Roy and his wife Edie. They were friends for some time and it was a surprise that after a number of months he shown John his race car. At that time, he didn’t give it much thought because he wasn't really interested in racing at that time in his life. Fast forward about 2-3 years, Roy asked him a number of times to check him out Drag Racing, John finally agreed to meet him at the track. He said he got to the track early and jumped on the bleachers and waited for the event to start. ...
